Fabio Remondino

Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) of Trento, Italy

Talk title: «Towards Photogrammetry 2020»

Fabio holds a PhD in photogrammetry from ETH Zurich. He is currently leading the 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) research unit (http://3dom.fbk.eu) at the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) of Trento, Italy. His research interests are information extraction from imagery, data fusion and point cloud processing. He holds the Italian habilitation as full professor in Geomatics and he taught 3D surveying and photogrammetry at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), University of Innsbruck (Austria), Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Moskow, Russia) and University of Bologna (Italy). He is currently president of ISPRS Technical Commission II ‘Photogrammetry’, vice-president of EuroSDR and vice-president of CIPAHeritage Documentation. He authored some 200 publications on journals and conferences, 9 books and gave 22 invited/keynote talks at International conferences.

Victor Lempitsky

Samsung AI Center, Moscow, and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology

Talk title: Convolutional Networks in Telepresence Applications

Victor Lempitsky leads the Vision, Learning, Telepresence (VIOLET) Lab at Samsung AI Center in Moscow, and also holds an associate professor position at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). In the past, Victor was a researcher at Yandex, at the Visual Geometry Group (VGG) of Oxford University, and at the Computer Vision group of Microsoft Research Cambridge. He holds a PhD (“kandidat nauk”) from Moscow State University (2007). Victor’s research interests are in various aspects of computer vision and deep learning. He has published extensively in top computer vision and machine learning venues, and has served as an area chair for top computer vision conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV) on multiple occasions. He has received a Scopus Russia Award given to highly cited Russian researchers in 2018.

Paolo Rota

Talk title: «Beyond pure vision, a quick peek on multimodal deep learning for industrial applications»

Paolo Rota has received his PhD in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Trento in 2015. After 2 years as Marie Curie Fellow at TU Wien (Austria) in Computer Vision Lab (CVL), he joined the Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision (PAVIS) group at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genova. Since August 2018 he moved back to University of Trento as postdoc, he is also collaborating with the ProM Facility of Rovereto where he is responsible of the Machine Learning for Industrial Prototyping lab. His research interests are in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning, in particular on topics such as scene understanding and multimodal learning. He is acting as reviewer for various prestigious conferences in the field (e.g.: CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, etc.). He is also co-organizer of international workshops such as Multimodal Machine Learning and Applications (MULA 2018) held in Munich during ECCV 2018 and Data-Driven Treatment Response Assessment Workshop (DATRA 2018) that took place in Grenada in conjunction with MICCAI 2018.
